Wedding FAQ

I have an uncle who has offered to photography my wedding for free - why should I hire a Professional Photographer?

With digital cameras getting better every day, we know you have an aunt or a friend who owns a good camera and feels they can do the job. Unfortunately, there is more to photographing a wedding than being able to take a cute snapshot. As Certified Professional Photographers with over 20 years of experience (what can I say, we started young :), we are specially trained in lighting, composition and equipment use so we can deal with a wide variety of situations and challenges. We use top of the line equipment and professional labs, and we always have a backup handy should anything go wrong. This is the most important day in your life and your images are one of the few things you will have to pass down to future generations. When it comes to your wedding images, you will always get what you pay for.

Do you do Destination Weddings?

Absolutely! We have a great deal of experience traveling with equipment and working on location. Our most popular destination weddings are in New Orleans and Charleston, but we have traveled as far at Poland! Please call us for details and rates.

Can I see a complete wedding you have photographed?

Yes - we are always happy to share a recent wedding gallery with you, just ask!

How far in advance should we reserve our wedding date with you?

We limit our local wedding commissions to 10 weddings per year so we suggest booking as early as possible. We will accept bookings up to 18 months in advance.

What do you need to reserve my date?

Upon signing a contract, we require a non-refundable retainer of $1000 to secure your date. After the initial retainer we will divide the remaining amount into 3 payments with the final payment due 30 days before your wedding day.

What type of payment do you accept?

We take cash, checks, money orders and all major credit cards.

When will I be able to view my images?

Engagement and Bridal images are usually ready for viewing within 2 weeks. A wedding is much more involved and therefore takes a little longer so wedding images are typically available for viewing 6-8 weeks after your wedding day.

Who should attend my Album Design session?

Your Album Design session is where you will be choosing the images for your wedding album as well as parent's albums, so it is crucial that all decision makers be present. Along with the happy couple we often have parents attend the session. A typical session takes 2-4 hours so please arrange for a sitter for small children as they will get bored pretty quickly.

When should I book my Engagement and Bridal session?

It depends a little on what products you would like:

  • Engagement Sessions - aside from enlargements and gift prints, most couples like to get Save the Date announcements and a Guest Signature book, so the earlier you book your engagement session the better. If you would like to send out Save the Dates we suggest doing your session at least 4-6 months before your wedding. For a Guest Book we suggest at least 4-6 weeks before your wedding.
  • Bridal Sessions - most brides try to keep their dress a secret so you can schedule your Bridal Session a month or two before your wedding date. This will give you plenty of time to order most products plus allow time for any final adjustments you way want on your dress. We have done Bridal Session as little as a few days before the wedding as well as after the wedding. This obviously limits the products you can have in time for your wedding but that usually isn't a problem for our brides.
  • Boudoir Sessions - if you would like your Little Black Book as a gift to give on your wedding day, you will need to schedule your session at least 5-6 weeks before your wedding day. Your images will be available within a week but books can take 2-4 weeks to produce. Again, the earlier you schedule your session, the better.
  • Trash the Dress, Day After and After the Honeymoon Sessions - If you are having a Destination Wedding and you want to combine these session we will schedule your Trash the Dress or Day After session for the day after your wedding. If you prefer to do your sessions somewhere else, we can schedule them anytime that works for you, usually 1-2 weeks after your wedding.
